“Looks available” is only a guide. I check whether the domain exists in the public DNS. A domain bought today can take hours to appear, so someone may have registered it this very morning. Only the registry confirms it when you buy.

How to choose a good domain for your business
- Short and easy to say. Think about how you’d say it on the phone: it should be understood first time.
- No accents or special characters. They exist in domains, but many people won’t know how to type them.
- Add your city if the name is taken. Adding your town or area usually works, and it tells people where you are.
- Hyphens, sparingly. A hyphen can separate words, but you’ll have to explain it every time you say it.
- Nothing that looks like someone else’s brand. You avoid trouble and confusion.
Questions about domains
How reliable is the result?
It’s a guide. The tool asks the public DNS whether the domain exists. If it doesn’t, it’s almost certainly available; but a domain bought today can take hours to show up, and some registered domains that haven’t been set up can look available. The real confirmation comes from the registry when you try to buy it.
Do you store what I type?
No. The check runs from your browser against Cloudflare’s public DNS; this website doesn’t store the names you try.
How much does a .es domain cost?
Around €8.41 a year including Spanish VAT (€6.95 + VAT at DonDominio, the same on renewal) if you pay for it yourself. With Fachada maintenance (from €19/month) the domain is included.
Whose name is it registered in?
Always yours. If you ever stop working with me, the domain stays yours and you take it with your website.
.es, .com or something else?
For a business selling in Spain, .es is usually the best choice: it reads as local and more short names tend to be free. If your business is elsewhere or sells mainly abroad, consider .com or your own country’s ending. If the .com is also free, it can be worth registering it so nobody else uses it.
